  • Do I need a referral to see a physical therapist?
    Virginia is a direct access state, meaning that you do not need to a see a physician or receive a referral before seeing a physical therapist. As of July 1, 2021, the General Assembly has extended the period of time a patient can see a physical therapist from 30 to 60 days before requiring a referral.
  • What if I am not an athlete, can I still see one of your physical therapists?"
    Absolutely!! At PrimusPT Fairfax, we pride ourselves on helping those of all ages and levels who want to stay fit or get fit.
  • Do you accept my insurance?
    PrimusPT Fairfax works with most insurances as an out-of-network provider. For those of our patients that would like to submit to their insurance for reimbursement, we provide a detailed invoice for easy submission. PrimusPT does not participate with Medicare or Medicaid but we do offer a fee-for-service rate that is better than our competitors.
  • What type of payment do you accept?
    We accept a number of payment options including cash, check, credit cards and HSA/FSA cards. If you may need a payment plan, we are more than flexible working with you to design a personalized plan to ensure you can get back to life pain free! Payment is due at the time of service.
  • What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
    If you have not completed your patient portal account and required intake forms, please download, print and complete our intake forms. Dress comfortably with ease of access to the area that you will be evaluted for. Some examples would be atheltic shorts, tank tops, t-shirts, ahtletic shoes, etc.
  • How do I request or schedule an appointment?
    If you are a new patient call our office today at 703-548-4400 and talk with our front desk representative. We can accomodate most morning and evenings hours, with same week scheduling. If you are an existing patient, you can log into your PtEverywhere account and schedule your next appointment online without talking to our desk representative.
  • How long will my appointment be?
    At PrimusPT all of our sessions for physical therapy are 60 minutes; evalations and follow ups. Performance training sessions are scheduled for 60 minutes and our in house mat pilates offers 3 options: 1-on-1 sessions for 60 minutes, a 45 minute class, and a 60 minute class.
  • How long will I be in physical therapy?
    Every patient will have a different diagnosis and prognosis. Our skilled physical therapists will perform a detailed evaluation and determine the most appropriate plan of care. On average physical therapy can take 6-8 weeks, with some more acute injuries lasting 12 weeks.
